"Because this people has rejected1 the gently flowing waters of Shiloah2 and rejoices over Rezin and the son of Remaliah,3

therefore the Lord is about to bring against them the mighty floodwaters4 of the Rivera-- the king of Assyria5 with all his pomp.6 It will overflow all its channels, run over all its banks7

and sweep on into Judah, swirling over it,8 passing through it and reaching up to the neck. Its outspread wings9 will cover the breadth of your land, O Immanuelb !"10
