8
Whenever I speak, I cry out proclaiming violence and destruction.1 So the word of the LORD has brought me insult and reproach2 all day long.
9
But if I say, "I will not mention him or speak any more in his name,"3 his word is in my heart like a fire,4 a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in;5 indeed, I cannot.
10
I hear many whispering, "Terror6 on every side! Report7 him! Let's report him!" All my friends8 are waiting for me to slip,9 saying, "Perhaps he will be deceived; then we will prevail10 over him and take our revenge11 on him."
11
But the LORD12 is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors13 will stumble and not prevail.14 They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced;15 their dishonor will never be forgotten.
