He threw him into the Abyss,1 and locked and sealed2 it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations3 anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.
I saw thrones4 on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge.5 And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded6 because of their testimony for Jesus7 and because of the word of God.8 They had not worshiped the beast9 or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands.10 They came to life and reigned11 with Christ a thousand years.
(The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.126
Blessed13 and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death14 has no power over them, but they will be priests15 of God and of Christ and will reign with him16 for a thousand years.
