1 Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle¹ and set apart² for the gospel of God³-- 2 the gospel he promised beforehand⁴ through his prophets⁵ in the Holy Scriptures⁶ 3 regarding his Son, who as to his human nature⁷ was a descendant of David,⁸ 4 and who through the Spirit^a of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God^b⁹ by his resurrection from the dead:¹⁰ Jesus Christ our Lord.¹¹ 5 Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace¹² and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles¹³ to the obedience that comes from faith.¹⁴ 6 And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.¹⁵ 7 To all in Rome who are loved by God¹⁶ and called to be saints:¹⁷ Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.¹⁸
