Isaiah 46:5-13 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
5 "To whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?1 6 Some pour out gold from their bags and weigh out silver on the scales; they hire a goldsmith2 to make it into a god, and they bow down and worship it.3 7 They lift it to their shoulders and carry4 it; they set it up in its place, and there it stands. From that spot it cannot move.5 Though one cries out to it, it does not answer;6 it cannot save7 him from his troubles. 8 "Remember8 this, fix it in mind, take it to heart, you rebels.9 9 Remember the former things,10 those of long ago;11 I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.12 10 I make known the end from the beginning,13 from ancient times,14 what is still to come.15 I say: My purpose will stand,16 and I will do all that I please. 11 From the east I summon17 a bird of prey;18 from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned,19 that will I do.20 12 Listen21 to me, you stubborn-hearted,22 you who are far from righteousness.23 13 I am bringing my righteousness24 near, it is not far away; and my salvation25 will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to Zion,26 my splendor27 to Israel.
