When men tell you to consult1 mediums and spiritists,2 who whisper and mutter,3 should not a people inquire4 of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?
To the law5 and to the testimony!6 If they do not speak according to this word, they have no light7 of dawn.
Distressed and hungry,8 they will roam through the land;9 when they are famished, they will become enraged and, looking upward, will curse10 their king and their God.
Then they will look toward the earth and see only distress and darkness and fearful gloom,11 and they will be thrust into utter darkness.12
