who 4showslovingkindness to thousands, but 5repays the iniquity of fathers into the bosom of their childrenafter them, O 6great and 7mightyGod. The 8LORD of hosts is His name ;
199great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose10eyes are open to all the ways of the sons of men, 11giving to everyone according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds ;
20who has 12setsigns and wonders in the land of Egypt, and even to thisday both in Israel and among mankind ; and You have 13made a name for Yourself, as at thisday.
'You 14brought Your peopleIsrael out of the land of Egypt with signs and with wonders, and with a stronghand and with an outstretchedarm and with greatterror ;
and gave them thisland, which You 15swore to their forefathers to give them, a landflowing with milk and honey.
'They 16came in and tookpossession of it, but they 17did not obey Your voice or 18walk in Your law ; they have donenothing of all that You commanded them to do ; therefore You have made 19allthiscalamitycome upon them.
24'Behold, the 20siegeramps have reached the city to take it; and the city is 21given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fightagainst it, because of the 22sword, the famine and the pestilence ; and what You have spoken has 23come to pass ; and behold, You see it.
'You have said to me, O LordbGOD, "Buy for yourself the field with money and call in witnesses "-although the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.' "
