Job 7:7-16 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
7 Remember, O God, that my life is but a breath;1 my eyes will never see happiness again.2 8 The eye that now sees me will see me no longer; you will look for me, but I will be no more.3 9 As a cloud vanishes4 and is gone, so he who goes down to the gravea5 does not return.6 10 He will never come to his house again; his place7 will know him no more.8 11 "Therefore I will not keep silent;9 I will speak out in the anguish10 of my spirit, I will complain11 in the bitterness of my soul.12 12 Am I the sea,13 or the monster of the deep,14 that you put me under guard?15 13 When I think my bed will comfort me and my couch will ease my complaint,16 14 even then you frighten me with dreams and terrify17 me with visions,18 15 so that I prefer strangling and death,19 rather than this body of mine.20 16 I despise my life;21 I would not live forever.22 Let me alone;23 my days have no meaning.24
