Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come ?
And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die .
Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.
Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.
After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come .
And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down .
And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear .
And they asked him, saying , Master, but when shall these things be ? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass ?
Watch ye therefore, and pray always , that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass , and to stand before the Son of man.
And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.
But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done .
