Luke 9:58

58 And Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but 1the Son of Man has nowhere * to lay His head."

Luke 9:58 Meaning and Commentary

Luke 9:58

And Jesus said unto him, foxes have holes
Both the words of this man to Christ, and Christ's answer to him, are exactly the same as in Matthew, which makes it look as if it was the same history; though it is not improbable, that Christ might be accosted in the same manner by another person, at another time and place, and return a like answer to each; (See Gill on Matthew 8:20).

Luke 9:58 In-Context

56 for the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them."] And they went on to another village.
57 As they were going along the road, someone said to Him, "I will follow You wherever You go."
58 And Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."
59 And He said to another, "Follow Me." But he said, "Lord , permit me first to go and bury my father."
60 But He said to him, "Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God."
