2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold , I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. 6 He answered and said unto them , Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written , This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. 12 And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought . 13 But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come , and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed , as it is written of him. 4 And they said , Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away . 5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept. 17 And he taught , saying unto them, Is it not written , My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves. 19 Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die , and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. 21 The Son of man indeed goeth , as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed ! good were it for that man if he had never been born . 27 And Jesus saith unto them , All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written , I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered .
