6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever . 8 Cease from anger and forsake wrath; Do not fret; it leads only to evildoing. 5 "Behold, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my lifetime as nothing in Your sight; Surely every man at his best is a mere breath. Selah. 6 "Surely every man walks about as a phantom; Surely they make an uproar for nothing; He amasses riches and does not know who will gather them. 11 "With reproofs You chasten a man for iniquity; You consume as a moth what is precious to him; Surely every man is a mere breath. Selah. 11 And men will say, "Surely there is a reward for the righteous; Surely there is a God who judges on earth!"

God Alone a Refuge from Treachery and Oppression.

1 My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. 2 He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken. 4 They have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position; They delight in falsehood; They bless with their mouth, But inwardly they curse. Selah. 5 My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. 6 He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken. 9 Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie; In the balances they go up; They are together lighter than breath. 6 God makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity, Only the rebellious dwell in a parched land. 21 Surely God will shatter the head of His enemies, The hairy crown of him who goes on in his guilty deeds.

The End of the Wicked Contrasted with That of the Righteous.

1 Surely God is good to Israel, To those who are pure in heart! 13 Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure And washed my hands in innocence; 18 Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down to destruction. 8 For a cup is in the hand of the LORD , and the wine foams; It is well mixed, and He pours out of this; Surely all the wicked of the earth must drain and drink down its dregs. 9 Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land. 11 If I say, "Surely the darkness will overwhelm me, And the light around me will be night," 13 Surely the righteous will give thanks to Your name; The upright will dwell in Your presence.
