Ezekiel 4:17

17 Finally, due to lack of bread and water, they will stare at each other in shock, wasting away because of their guilt."

Ezekiel 4:17 Meaning and Commentary

Ezekiel 4:17

That they may want bread and water
Or, "because they shall want" F12 &c. therefore they shall eat the one, and drink the other, by weight; or they shall do this till there shall be none to eat and drink: and be astonished one with another;
when they shall find they cannot relieve one another; and not knowing what method to take for the support of nature: and consume away for their iniquity;
their flesh upon them black through famine, putrid and noisome; and they wasting, pining, and consuming; reduced to skin and bones; and disagreeable to look upon; and all because of their sins and iniquities.

Ezekiel 4:17 In-Context

15 He answered, "All right, I will give you cow dung to use instead of human dung, and you can prepare your bread on it."
16 He then said to me, "Human being, I am going to cut off the supply of bread in Yerushalayim, so that they will anxiously weigh out bread to eat, and, horrified, ration water to drink.
17 Finally, due to lack of bread and water, they will stare at each other in shock, wasting away because of their guilt."
