1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ,¹ set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.² 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.³ 3 For you died,⁴ and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your^a life,⁵ appears,⁶ then you also will appear with him in glory.⁷ 5 Put to death,⁸ therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature:⁹ sexual immorality,¹⁰ impurity, lust, evil desires and greed,¹¹ which is idolatry.¹² 6 Because of these, the wrath of God¹³ is coming.^b 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.¹⁴ 8 But now you must rid yourselves¹⁵ of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander,¹⁶ and filthy language from your lips.¹⁷ 9 Do not lie to each other,¹⁸ since you have taken off your old self¹⁹ with its practices 10 and have put on the new self,²⁰ which is being renewed²¹ in knowledge in the image of its Creator.²²
