Put to death,1 therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature:2 sexual immorality,3 impurity, lust, evil desires and greed,4 which is idolatry.56
Because of these, the wrath of God6 is coming.a7
You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.78
But now you must rid yourselves8 of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander,9 and filthy language from your lips.109
Do not lie to each other,11 since you have taken off your old self12 with its practices
and have put on the new self,13 which is being renewed14 in knowledge in the image of its Creator.1511
Here there is no Greek or Jew,16 circumcised or uncircumcised,17 barbarian, Scythian, slave or free,18 but Christ is all,19 and is in all.
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves20 with compassion, kindness, humility,21 gentleness and patience.2213
Bear with each other23 and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.2414
And over all these virtues put on love,25 which binds them all together in perfect unity.2615
Let the peace of Christ27 rule in your hearts, since as members of one body28 you were called to peace.29 And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ30 dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom,31 and as you sing psalms,32 hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.3317
And whatever you do,34 whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks35 to God the Father through him.
