Upon the stairs (epi tou anabaqmou). From ana, up, and bainw, to go. Late word, in LXX and Koin writers. In the N.T. only here and verse Hebrews 40 . So it was (sunebh). Second aorist active of sumbainw, to happen (see on Hebrews 20:19 ) with infinitive clause as subject here as often in the old Greek. He was borne (bastazesqai auton). Accusative of general reference with this subject infinitive, present passive of bastazw, to take up with the hands, literally as here. Violence (bian). See on "Ac 5:26". Biazw, to use force, is from bia.
