Psalms 80:6

6 You set us at strife with our neighbors; our enemies make fun of us.

Psalms 80:6 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 80:6

Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours
Either obliges us to contend with them for our defence and safety; or having given us into their hands, they strive and contend one with another about dividing the spoil:

and our enemies laugh among themselves;
at us, and because there is no help for us in God, as they imagine; or at God himself, as Kimchi, saying he cannot save as.

Psalms 80:6 In-Context

4 Lord God of Hosts, how long will You be angry with Your people's prayers?
5 You fed them the bread of tears and gave them a full measure of tears to drink.
6 You set us at strife with our neighbors; our enemies make fun of us.
7 Restore us, God of Hosts; look [on us] with favor, and we will be saved.
8 You uprooted a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and planted it.
