Deuteronomy 10:3-13 (New International Version)

3 So I made the ark out of acacia wood1 and chiseled2 out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I went up on the mountain with the two tablets in my hands. 4 The LORD wrote on these tablets what he had written before, the Ten Commandments3 he had proclaimed4 to you on the mountain, out of the fire, on the day of the assembly.5 And the LORD gave them to me. 5 Then I came back down the mountain6 and put the tablets in the ark7 I had made,8 as the LORD commanded me, and they are there now.9 6 (The Israelites traveled from the wells of the Jaakanites to Moserah.10 There Aaron died11 and was buried, and Eleazar12 his son succeeded him as priest.13 7 From there they traveled to Gudgodah and on to Jotbathah, a land with streams of water.14 8 At that time the LORD set apart the tribe of Levi15 to carry the ark of the covenant16 of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister17 and to pronounce blessings18 in his name, as they still do today.19 9 That is why the Levites have no share or inheritance among their brothers; the LORD is their inheritance,20 as the LORD your God told them.) 10 Now I had stayed on the mountain forty days and nights, as I did the first time, and the LORD listened to me at this time also. It was not his will to destroy you.21 11 "Go," the LORD said to me, "and lead the people on their way, so that they may enter and possess the land that I swore to their fathers to give them."

Fear the LORD

12 And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you22 but to fear23 the LORD your God, to walk24 in all his ways, to love him,25 to serve the LORD26 your God with all your heart27 and with all your soul,28 13 and to observe the LORD's commands29 and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?30
