They made me jealous1 by what is no god and angered me with their worthless idols.2 I will make them envious by those who are not a people; I will make them angry by a nation that has no understanding.322
For a fire has been kindled by my wrath,4 one that burns to the realm of deatha below.5 It will devour6 the earth and its harvests7 and set afire the foundations of the mountains.823

They are a nation without sense, there is no discernment24 in them.
If only they were wise and would understand this25 and discern what their end will be!2630
How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight,27 unless their Rock had sold them,28 unless the LORD had given them up?2931
For their rock is not like our Rock,30 as even our enemies concede.31
