Therefore, remember that formerly4 you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision" (that done in the body by the hands of men)5--
remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners6 to the covenants of the promise,7 without hope8 and without God in the world.
But now in Christ Jesus you who once9 were far away have been brought near10 through the blood of Christ.1114
For he himself is our peace,12 who has made the two one13 and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,
by abolishing in his flesh14 the law with its commandments and regulations.15 His purpose was to create in himself one16 new man out of the two, thus making peace,
and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross,17 by which he put to death their hostility.
He came and preached peace18 to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.1918
For through him we both have access20 to the Father21 by one Spirit.2219
Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens,23 but fellow citizens24 with God's people and members of God's household,2520
built26 on the foundation27 of the apostles and prophets,28 with Christ Jesus himself29 as the chief cornerstone.30
