10
He who descended is the very one who ascended1 higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.)211
It was he who gave3 some to be apostles,4 some to be prophets,5 some to be evangelists,6 and some to be pastors and teachers,712
to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ8 may be built up913
until we all reach unity10 in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God11 and become mature,12 attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.1314
Then we will no longer be infants,14 tossed back and forth by the waves,15 and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.1615
Instead, speaking the truth in love,17 we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head,18 that is, Christ.
16
From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows19 and builds itself up20 in love,21 as each part does its work.
17
So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer22 live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.2318
They are darkened in their understanding24 and separated from the life of God25 because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.2619
Having lost all sensitivity,27 they have given themselves over28 to sensuality29 so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.

You, however, did not come to know Christ that way.
