As I began to speak,
1the Holy Spirit fell on them
2just as on us at the beginning.

And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said,
3'John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'
17
If then
4God gave
5the same gift to them as he gave to us
6when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ,
7who was I
8that I could stand in God's way?"
18
When they heard these things they fell silent. And they
9glorified God, saying,
10"Then to the Gentiles also God has
11granted
12repentance that leads to life."
The Church in Antioch
19 13Now those who were scattered because of the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews.

But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who on coming to Antioch spoke to the Hellenists also,
14preaching the Lord Jesus.

And
15the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believed
16turned to the Lord.

The report of this came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch.

When he came and saw
17the grace of God, he was glad, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord
18with steadfast purpose,
24
for he was a good man,
19full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people
20were added to the Lord.

So Barnabas went to
21Tarsus to look for Saul,
