1James, a servant of God and 2of the Lord Jesus Christ, To 3the twelve tribes in 4the Dispersion: Greetings.
5Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials 6of various kinds,
for you know that 7the testing of your faith 8produces steadfastness.
And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be 9perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
10If any of you lacks wisdom, 11let him ask God, 12who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
But 13let him ask in faith, 14with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like 15a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
16he is a double-minded man, 17unstable in all his ways.
