Job 29:10-20

the voice of the nobles was hushed, and their 1tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth.
When the ear heard, it called me blessed, and when the eye saw, it approved,
because I 2delivered the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to help him.
3The blessing of him who was 4about to perish came upon me, and I caused 5the widow's heart to sing for joy.
I 6put on righteousness, and it clothed me; my justice was like a robe and 7a turban.
I was 8eyes to the blind and feet to the lame.
I was a father to the needy, and I searched out 9the cause of him whom I did not know.
I 10broke 11the fangs of the unrighteous and made him drop his prey from his teeth.
12Then I thought, 'I shall die in my 13nest, and I shall multiply my days as 14the sand,
my 15roots spread out to 16the waters, with the dew all night on my 17branches,
my glory fresh with me, and my 18bow ever 19new in my hand.'
