11
1I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd 2lays down his life for the sheep.
12
He who is 3a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and 4leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and 5scatters them.
13
He flees because 6he is a hired hand and 7cares nothing for the sheep.
14
8I am the good shepherd. 9I know my own and 10my own know me,
15
11just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and 12I lay down my life for the sheep.
16
And 13I have other sheep that are not of this fold. 14I must bring them also, and 15they will listen to my voice. So there will be 16one flock, 17one shepherd.
17
18For this reason the Father loves me, 19because 20I lay down my life that I may take it up again.
18
21No one takes it from me, but 22I lay it down 23of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and 24I have authority to take it up again. 25This charge I have received from my Father."
19
26There was again a division among the Jews because of these words.
20
Many of them said, 27"He has a demon, and 28is insane; why listen to him?"
21
Others said, "These are not the words of one who is oppressed by a demon. 29Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?"
