John 8:26-36

I have much to say about you and much to judge, but 1he who sent me is true, and I declare 2to the world 3what I have heard from him."
They did not understand that 4he had been speaking to them about the Father.
So Jesus said to them, "When you have 5lifted up the Son of Man, 6then you will know that 7I am he, and that 8I do nothing on my own authority, but 9speak just as the Father taught me.
And 10he who sent me is with me. 11He has not left me alone, for 12I always do the things that are pleasing to him."
As he was saying these things, 13many believed in him.

The Truth Will Set You Free

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, 14"If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,
and you will 15know the truth, and the truth 16will set you free."
They answered him, 17"We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, 'You will become free'?"
Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, 18everyone who commits sin is a slave[a] to sin.
19The slave does not remain in the house forever; 20the son remains forever.
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
