Luke 16:16-26

16 1"The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then 2the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and 3everyone forces his way into it.[a]
17 But 4it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one dot of the Law to become void.

Divorce and Remarriage

18 5"Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.

The Rich Man and Lazarus

19 "There was a rich man who was clothed in 6purple and fine linen and 7who feasted sumptuously every day.
20 And at his gate 8was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores,
21 who desired to be fed with 9what fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 The poor man died and was carried by 10the angels 11to Abraham's side.[b] The rich man also died and was buried,
23 and in 12Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and 13saw Abraham far off and Lazarus 14at his side.
24 And he called out, 15'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and 16cool my tongue, for 17I am in anguish in this flame.'
25 But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that 18you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.
26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.'
