Mark 7:17-27

And when he had entered 1the house and left the people, 2his disciples asked him about the parable.
And he said to them, "Then 3are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him,
since it enters not his heart 4but his stomach, and is expelled?"[a] (5Thus he declared all foods clean.)
And he said, 6"What comes out of a person is what defiles him.
For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, 7murder, adultery,
coveting, wickedness, deceit, 8sensuality, 9envy, 10slander, 11pride, 12foolishness.
13All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person."

The Syrophoenician Woman's Faith

And from there he arose and went away to the region of Tyre and Sidon.[b] And he entered a house and did not want anyone to know, yet he could not be hidden.
But immediately a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit heard of him and came and fell down at his feet.
14Now the woman was a 15Gentile, 16a Syrophoenician by birth. And she begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter.
And he said to her, "Let the children be 17fed first, for it is not right to take the children's bread and 18throw it to the dogs."
