Matthew 23:28-38

28 So you also 1outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of 2hypocrisy and lawlessness.
29 3"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous,
30 saying, 'If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.'
31 Thus you witness against yourselves that you are 4sons of those who murdered the prophets.
32 5Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers.
33 You serpents, 6you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to 7hell?
34 8Therefore 9I send you 10prophets and wise men and 11scribes, 12some of whom you will kill and crucify, and 13some you will 14flog in your synagogues and 15persecute from town to town,
35 so that on you may come all 16the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of innocent 17Abel to the blood of 18Zechariah the son of Barachiah,[a] whom you murdered between 19the sanctuary and 20the altar.
36 Truly, I say to you, 21all these things will come upon this generation.#rl

37 22"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that 23kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have 24gathered 25your children together 26as a hen gathers her brood 27under her wings, and 28you would not!
38 See, 29your house is left to you desolate.
