Mark 13:31

31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Mark 13:31 Meaning and Commentary

Mark 13:31

Heaven and earth shall pass away
Which may be understood either affirmatively, as what will be at the second coming of Christ; or comparatively, rather than any thing said by Christ should; and so shows the certainty and irreversibleness of his predictions, as it follows:

but my words shall not pass away;
which is true of all the words of Christ he ever spake, and here particularly relates to those he had just delivered, concerning the calamities that should come upon the Jewish nation; (See Gill on Matthew 24:35).

Mark 13:31 In-Context

29 In the same way, when you see these things happening, you will know that the time is near, ready to begin.
30 Remember that all these things will happen before the people now living have all died.
31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
32 "No one knows, however, when that day or hour will come - neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son; only the Father knows.
33 Be on watch, be alert, for you do not know when the time will come.
