Genesis 24:36 Meaning and Commentary

Genesis 24:36

And Sarah, my master's wife
Who must be well known to this family, by name at least, being, as is generally supposed, the sister of Milcah, Nahor's wife, and Bethuel's mother; the same bare a son to my master when she was old;
even when ninety years of age, ( Genesis 17:17 ) ; this is mentioned because it was an extraordinary thing, and an instance of divine power and of the favour of God; and this son of their old age must be very dear unto Abraham, as it follows: and unto him hath he given all that he hath;
by his will: Jarchi says, the servant had now the schedule of all in his hands, which he showed; but this is mere conjecture.

Genesis 24:36 In-Context

34 "I am Abraham's servant," he said.
35 "The LORD has blessed my master, and he has become wealthy. The LORD has given him sheep and cattle, silver and gold, male and female slaves, camels and donkeys.
36 My master's wife Sarah gave him a son in her old age, and my master has given that son everything he has.
37 My master made me swear this oath: 'Don't get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I'm living.
38 Instead, go to my father's home and to my relatives, and get my son a wife.'
