John 13:32

32 If God is glorified because of the Son of Man, God will glorify the Son of Man because of himself, and he will glorify the Son of Man at once."

John 13:32 Meaning and Commentary

John 13:32

If God be glorified in him
Seeing this is a certain truth, is indisputably matter of fact, that all the perfections of God are glorified in Christ, by his sufferings and death:

God shall also glorify him in himself;
either "with himself"; with his own glory, which was promised to Christ, and which he had before the world was, and for which he prays, ( John 17:5 ) , or by himself: by his own power, in raising him from the dead, setting him at his own right hand, and crowning him with glory and honour:

and shall straightway glorify him;
this he will do very quickly, he will not leave him in the grave, nor suffer him to see corruption; he will raise him again the third day, and give him glory.

John 13:32 In-Context

30 Judas took the piece of bread and immediately went outside. It was night.
31 When Judas was gone, Jesus said, "The Son of Man is now glorified, and because of him God is glorified.
32 If God is glorified because of the Son of Man, God will glorify the Son of Man because of himself, and he will glorify the Son of Man at once."
33 Jesus said, "Dear children, I will still be with you for a little while. I'm telling you what I told the Jews. You will look for me, but you can't go where I'm going.
34 "I'm giving you a new commandment: Love each other in the same way that I have loved you.
