The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering,1 but the bodies are burned outside the camp.212
And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate3 to make the people holy4 through his own blood.513
Let us, then, go to him6 outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.714
For here we do not have an enduring city,8 but we are looking for the city that is to come.915
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice10 of praise--the fruit of lips11 that confess his name.
And do not forget to do good and to share with others,12 for with such sacrifices13 God is pleased.
Obey your leaders14 and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you15 as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.
Pray for us.16 We are sure that we have a clear conscience17 and desire to live honorably in every way.
I particularly urge you to pray so that I may be restored to you soon.1820
May the God of peace,19 who through the blood of the eternal covenant20 brought back from the dead21 our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep,2221
equip you with everything good for doing his will,23 and may he work in us24 what is pleasing to him,25 through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.26
