Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office;
but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.125
Therefore he is able to save2 completelya those who come to God3 through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.426
Such a high priest5 meets our need--one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners,6 exalted above the heavens.727
Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices8 day after day, first for his own sins,9 and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all10 when he offered himself.1128
For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak;12 but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son,13 who has been made perfect14 forever.
