"Howmuch*more*, if only the people had eatenfreelytoday of the spoil of their enemieswhich they found! For now the slaughter among the Philistines has not been great."

Then they toldSaul, saying, "Behold, the people are sinning against the LORD by eating with the blood." And he said, "You have actedtreacherously; roll a greatstone to me today."

Saulsaid, "Disperseyourselves among the people and say to them, 'Eachone of you bring me his ox or his sheep, and slaughter it here and eat; and do not sin against the LORD by eating with the blood.' " So all the people that nightbroughteachone his ox with him and slaughtered it there.

Then Saulsaid, "Let us godownafter the Philistines by night and takespoil among them until the morninglight, and let us not leave a man of them." And they said, "Dowhatever seems good to you." So the priestsaid, "Let us drawnear to Godhere."

Then he said to allIsrael, "You shall be on oneside and I and Jonathan my son will be on the otherside." And the peoplesaid to Saul, "Dowhat seems good to you."
