ForifI be an offender, or have committed any thingworthy of death, I refusenot to die: butif there benone of these things whereof theseaccuseme, no manmaydeliverme unto them. I appeal untoCaesar.

Towhom I answered*, It isnot the manner of the Romans to deliveranymantodie,beforethat he which is accusedhave the accusers face to face**, and havelicence to answer for himselfconcerning the crime laid against him.

And on the morrow,whenAgrippa was come, andBernice,withgreatpomp,and was enteredinto the place of hearing,withthe chief captains,andprincipal*menof the city,atFestus'commandmentPaul was brought forth.

AndFestussaid, KingAgrippa,andallmenwhich are here present with us, ye see this man,aboutwhomall the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me,bothatJerusalem,and also here,crying that he oughtnot to live any longer.
