So will it be on the earth and among the nations, as when an olive tree is beaten,1 or as when gleanings are left after the grape harvest.214
They raise their voices, they shout for joy;3 from the west4 they acclaim the LORD's majesty.
Therefore in the east5 give glory6 to the LORD; exalt7 the name8 of the LORD, the God of Israel, in the islands9 of the sea.
From the ends of the earth10 we hear singing:11 "Glory12 to the Righteous One."13 But I said, "I waste away, I waste away!14 Woe15 to me! The treacherous16 betray! With treachery the treacherous betray!17"
Terror18 and pit and snare19 await you, O people of the earth.2018
Whoever flees21 at the sound of terror will fall into a pit;22 whoever climbs out of the pit will be caught in a snare.23 The floodgates of the heavens24 are opened, the foundations of the earth shake.2519
The earth is broken up,26 the earth is split asunder,27 the earth is thoroughly shaken.
The earth reels like a drunkard,28 it sways like a hut29 in the wind; so heavy upon it is the guilt of its rebellion30 that it falls31--never to rise again.3221
In that day33 the LORD will punish34 the powers35 in the heavens above and the kings36 on the earth below.
They will be herded together like prisoners37 bound in a dungeon;38 they will be shut up in prison and be punisheda after many days.3923
The moon will be abashed, the sun40 ashamed; for the LORD Almighty will reign41 on Mount Zion42 and in Jerusalem, and before its elders, gloriously.43
