Isaiah 2:5-15 (New International Version)

5 Come, O house of Jacob,1 let us walk in the light2 of the LORD.

The Day of the LORD

6 You have abandoned3 your people, the house of Jacob.4 They are full of superstitions from the East; they practice divination5 like the Philistines6 and clasp hands7 with pagans.8 7 Their land is full of silver and gold;9 there is no end to their treasures.10 Their land is full of horses;11 there is no end to their chariots.12 8 Their land is full of idols;13 they bow down14 to the work of their hands,15 to what their fingers16 have made. 9 So man will be brought low17 and mankind humbled18-- do not forgive them.a19 10 Go into the rocks, hide20 in the ground from dread of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty!21 11 The eyes of the arrogant22 man will be humbled23 and the pride24 of men brought low;25 the LORD alone will be exalted26 in that day.27 12 The LORD Almighty has a day28 in store for all the proud29 and lofty,30 for all that is exalted31 (and they will be humbled),32 13 for all the cedars of Lebanon,33 tall and lofty,34 and all the oaks of Bashan,35 14 for all the towering mountains and all the high hills,36 15 for every lofty tower37 and every fortified wall,38
