Isaiah 44:20-28 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
20 He feeds on ashes,1 a deluded2 heart misleads him; he cannot save himself, or say, "Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?34" 21 "Remember5 these things, O Jacob, for you are my servant, O Israel.6 I have made you, you are my servant;7 O Israel, I will not forget you.8 22 I have swept away9 your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return10 to me, for I have redeemed11 you." 23 Sing for joy,12 O heavens, for the LORD has done this; shout aloud, O earth13 beneath. Burst into song, you mountains,14 you forests and all your trees,15 for the LORD has redeemed16 Jacob, he displays his glory17 in Israel.

Jerusalem to Be Inhabited

24 "This is what the LORD says-- your Redeemer,18 who formed19 you in the womb:20 I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens,21 who spread out the earth22 by myself, 25 who foils23 the signs of false prophets and makes fools of diviners,24 who overthrows the learning of the wise25 and turns it into nonsense,26 26 who carries out the words27 of his servants and fulfills28 the predictions of his messengers, who says of Jerusalem,29 'It shall be inhabited,' of the towns of Judah, 'They shall be built,' and of their ruins,30 'I will restore them,'31 27 who says to the watery deep, 'Be dry, and I will dry up32 your streams,' 28 who says of Cyrus,33 'He is my shepherd and will accomplish all that I please; he will say of Jerusalem,34 "Let it be rebuilt," and of the temple,35 "Let its foundations36 be laid."
