You went to Molecha1 with olive oil and increased your perfumes.2 You sent your ambassadorsb3 far away; you descended to the gravec4 itself !
You were wearied5 by all your ways, but you would not say, 'It is hopeless.'6 You found renewal of your strength,7 and so you did not faint.
"Whom have you so dreaded and feared8 that you have been false to me, and have neither remembered9 me nor pondered10 this in your hearts? Is it not because I have long been silent11 that you do not fear me?
I will expose your righteousness and your works,12 and they will not benefit you.
When you cry out13 for help, let your collection [of idols] save14 you! The wind will carry all of them off, a mere breath will blow15 them away. But the man who makes me his refuge16 will inherit the land17 and possess my holy mountain."18
And it will be said: "Build up, build up, prepare the road!19 Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people."2015
For this is what the high and lofty21 One says-- he who lives forever,22 whose name is holy: "I live in a high23 and holy place, but also with him who is contrite24 and lowly in spirit,25 to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.2616
I will not accuse27 forever, nor will I always be angry,28 for then the spirit of man would grow faint before me-- the breath29 of man that I have created.
I was enraged by his sinful greed;30 I punished him, and hid31 my face in anger, yet he kept on in his willful ways.3218
I have seen his ways, but I will heal33 him; I will guide34 him and restore comfort35 to him,
creating praise on the lips36 of the mourners in Israel. Peace, peace,37 to those far and near,"38 says the LORD. "And I will heal them."
