My servants will sing1 out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out2 from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit.
You will leave your name to my chosen ones as a curse;3 the Sovereign LORD will put you to death, but to his servants he will give another name.416
Whoever invokes a blessing5 in the land will do so by the God of truth;6 he who takes an oath in the land will swear7 by the God of truth. For the past troubles8 will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.
"Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth.9 The former things will not be remembered,10 nor will they come to mind.
But be glad and rejoice11 forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem12 to be a delight and its people a joy.
I will rejoice13 over Jerusalem and take delight14 in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying15 will be heard in it no more.
"Never again will there be in it an infant16 who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years;17 he who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth; he who fails to reacha a hundred will be considered accursed.
They will build houses18 and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.1922
No longer will they build houses and others live in them,20 or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree,21 so will be the days22 of my people; my chosen23 ones will long enjoy the works of their hands.
They will not toil in vain24 or bear children doomed to misfortune;25 for they will be a people blessed26 by the LORD, they and their descendants27 with them.
Before they call28 I will answer;29 while they are still speaking30 I will hear.
