Jeremiah 42:3

That the Lord thy God may show us the way wherein we may walk,
&c.] Not the way of their duty as to religious worship, or their moral conversation, which was the way of God's commandments, and had been shown them, and they knew it; but which way they should steer their course for their safety; they had departed from Mizpah of themselves, and had taken up their dwelling at Geruthchimham, in the way to Egypt; whither they had set their faces, and where their hearts were, only they wanted the Lord's sanction for it, pretending they would be directed by him: and the thing that we should do;
the steps they should take in order to proceed; and what they should do before they left their own country, and went into another.

1 Vinieron todos los príncipes de los ejércitos, Johanán, hijo de Carea, Jezanías, hijo de Osaías, y todo el pueblo desde el menor hasta el mayor

2 y dijeron a Jeremías profeta: Caiga ahora nuestro ruego delante de ti, y ruega por nosotros al SEÑOR tu Dios, por todo este resto, (pues hemos quedado unos pocos de muchos, como nos ven tus ojos)

3 Para que el SEÑOR tu Dios nos enseñe el camino por donde debemos ir, y lo que hemos de hacer

4 Y Jeremías profeta les dijo: Ya he oído. He aquí que voy a orar al SEÑOR vuestro Dios, como habéis dicho; y será que todo lo que el SEÑOR os respondiere, os enseñaré; no os reservaré palabra

5 Y ellos dijeron a Jeremías: El SEÑOR sea entre nosotros testigo de la verdad y de la lealtad, si no hiciéremos conforme a todo aquello para lo cual el SEÑOR tu Dios te enviare a nosotros
