Job 14:10-20 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
10 But man dies and is laid low;1 he breathes his last and is no more.2 11 As water disappears from the sea or a riverbed becomes parched and dry,3 12 so man lies down and does not rise;4 till the heavens are no more,5 men will not awake or be roused from their sleep.6 13 "If only you would hide me in the gravea7 and conceal me till your anger has passed!8 If only you would set me a time and then remember9 me!10 14 If a man dies, will he live again? All the days of my hard service11 I will wait for my renewalb12 to come. 15 You will call and I will answer you;13 you will long for the creature your hands have made.14 16 Surely then you will count my steps15 but not keep track of my sin.16 17 My offenses will be sealed17 up in a bag;18 you will cover over my sin.19 18 "But as a mountain erodes and crumbles20 and as a rock is moved from its place,21 19 as water wears away stones and torrents22 wash away the soil,23 so you destroy man's hope.24 20 You overpower him once for all, and he is gone;25 you change his countenance and send him away.26
