If it is true that I have gone astray, my error1 remains my concern alone.

If indeed you would exalt yourselves above me2 and use my humiliation against me,

then know that God has wronged me3 and drawn his net4 around me.5

"Though I cry, 'I've been wronged!' I get no response;6 though I call for help,7 there is no justice.8

He has blocked my way so I cannot pass;9 he has shrouded my paths in darkness.10

He has stripped11 me of my honor12 and removed the crown from my head.13

He tears me down14 on every side till I am gone; he uproots my hope15 like a tree.16

His anger17 burns against me; he counts me among his enemies.18

His troops advance in force;19 they build a siege ramp20 against me and encamp around my tent.21

"He has alienated my brothers22 from me; my acquaintances are completely estranged from me.23

My kinsmen have gone away; my friends24 have forgotten me.
