when the Almighty was still with me and my children1 were around me,2

when my path was drenched with cream3 and the rock4 poured out for me streams of olive oil.5

"When I went to the gate6 of the city and took my seat in the public square,

the young men saw me and stepped aside7 and the old men rose to their feet;8
9
the chief men refrained from speaking9 and covered their mouths with their hands;10

the voices of the nobles were hushed,11 and their tongues stuck to the roof of their mouths.12

Whoever heard me spoke well of me, and those who saw me commended me,13

because I rescued the poor14 who cried for help, and the fatherless15 who had none to assist him.16

The man who was dying blessed me;17 I made the widow's18 heart sing.

I put on righteousness19 as my clothing; justice was my robe and my turban.20
15
I was eyes21 to the blind and feet to the lame.22
