View In My Bible
9 the chief men refrained from speaking1 and covered their mouths with their hands;2 10 the voices of the nobles were hushed,3 and their tongues stuck to the roof of their mouths.4 11 Whoever heard me spoke well of me, and those who saw me commended me,5 12 because I rescued the poor6 who cried for help, and the fatherless7 who had none to assist him.8 13 The man who was dying blessed me;9 I made the widow's10 heart sing. 14 I put on righteousness11 as my clothing; justice was my robe and my turban.12 15 I was eyes13 to the blind and feet to the lame.14 16 I was a father to the needy;15 I took up the case16 of the stranger.17 17 I broke the fangs of the wicked and snatched the victims18 from their teeth.19 18 "I thought, 'I will die in my own house, my days as numerous as the grains of sand.20 19 My roots will reach to the water,21 and the dew will lie all night on my branches.22
