"I will drive the northern army1 far from you, pushing it into a parched and barren land, with its front columns going into the eastern2 sea and those in the rear into the western sea. And its stench3 will go up; its smell will rise." Surely he has done great things.
Be not afraid,4 O land; be glad and rejoice.5 Surely the LORD has done great things.6
Be not afraid, O wild animals, for the open pastures are becoming green.7 The trees are bearing their fruit; the fig tree8 and the vine9 yield their riches.10
Be glad, O people of Zion, rejoice11 in the LORD your God, for he has given you the autumn rains in righteousness.12 He sends you abundant showers,13 both autumn14 and spring rains,15 as before.
The threshing floors will be filled with grain; the vats will overflow16 with new wine17 and oil.
"I will repay you for the years the locusts18 have eaten19-- the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm-- my great army20 that I sent among you.
You will have plenty to eat, until you are full,21 and you will praise22 the name of the LORD your God, who has worked wonders23 for you; never again will my people be shamed.24
Then you will know25 that I am in Israel, that I am the LORD 26 your God, and that there is no other; never again will my people be shamed.27
"And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit28 on all people.29 Your sons and daughters will prophesy,30 your old men will dream dreams,31 your young men will see visions.
Even on my servants,32 both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.33
I will show wonders in the heavens34 and on the earth,35 blood and fire and billows of smoke.
