1 Timothy 4:4 Meaning and Commentary

1 Timothy 4:4

For every creature of God is good
For food; and should be taken and used for that purpose, at all times, without distinction; even every creature which is made for food, and which is easy to be discerned by men:

and nothing to be refused;
or rejected as common and unclean, or to be abstained from at certain times:

if it be received with thanksgiving:
if not, persons are very ungrateful, and very unworthy of such favours; and it would be just in God to withhold them from them; and this they may expect at his hands, who reject them with contempt, or receive them with unthankfulness, or abstain front them in a religious way he never enjoined.

1 Timothy 4:4 In-Context

2 that in hypocrisy shall speak lies; having their conscience seared as with a hot iron;
3 they shall forbid to marry and shall command men to abstain from foods, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who are faithful and have known the truth.
4 For everything that God created is good, and nothing is to be refused, if it is received with thanksgiving,
5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6 If thou put these things before the brethren, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, unto which thou hast attained.
