And if a house be divided against itself
Any family, small or great,

that house cannot stand;
its contentions and discords will soon bring it down from a comfortable and flourishing situation, to a very distressed one; (See Gill on Matthew 12:25).

23 And he called them unto him and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?
24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot remain.
25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot remain.
26 And if Satan rises up against himself and is divided, he cannot remain, but has an end.
27 No man can enter into a strong man’s house and spoil his goods except he will first bind the strong man, and then he will spoil his house.
