1Wherefore when we could no longerforbear , we thought it good to be leftatAthensalone;2AndsentTimotheus,ourbrother,andminister of God,andourfellowlabourerin the gospel of Christ,toestablishyou,and to comfortyouconcerningyourfaith:3
That no man should be movedbytheseafflictions:foryourselvesknowthat we are appointedthereunto .
4Forverily,when we werewithyou, we toldyoubeforethat we should suffer tribulation ; evenas it came to pass , and ye know .
For thiscause, when Icould no longerforbear , I senttoknowyourfaith, lest by some meansthetempter have temptedyou,andourlabourbeinvain.6Butnow when Timotheuscamefromyouuntous,andbroughtus good tidings of yourfaithandcharity,andthat ye havegoodremembrance of usalways, desiring greatly to seeus,aswealso to see you:7Therefore , brethren, we were comfortedoveryouinallourafflictionanddistressbyyourfaith:8Fornow we live , ifye stand fastin the Lord.9Forwhatthanks can werender to Godagainforyou,forall the joywherewith we joyfor your sakesbeforeourGod;10Nightanddayprayingexceedinglythat we might seeyourface,and might perfect that which is lacking in yourfaith?11NowGodhimselfandourFather,andourLordJesusChrist,directaourwayuntoyou.12And the Lordmakeyou to increaseandabound in loveonetowardanother,andtowardall men, evenaswe do towardyou:13
To the end he may stablishyourheartsunblameableinholinessbeforeGod,evenourFather,at the coming of ourLordJesusChristwithallhissaints.b
